Mother's Day!
Here are some special Mother's Day greetings for you to enjoy on your special day. We love our mothers for SO many reasons, but these are the ones that came to mind this week. :) (Taya's is currently missing because she was sick when we took the pictures....it will be up soon!)

Titanic Day!
This class has been so interested in the sinking of the Titanic that we decided to have a special day to learn about the ship. Mr. Gary DeJong, a former HCMS teacher who used to lead special classes about the ship, came and taught us so much! He also brought lots of documents and books to look at and answered our questions. We also read a Titanic book and learned all about the discovery of the sunken ship by Robert Ballard in 1985. The kids took part in a special STEM activity where they had to create a ship that looked like the Titanic and then test it for seaworthiness. A very special treat was the Titanic cake made by Andrea Dekker (Nora's mom)! It was a real work of art and even included a gluten-free iceberg! It was a great day of celebrating all of our learning this year!

Fire Safety Day!
Our local firefighters stopped by last week to talk to us about their jobs and what we can do to stay safe if there's a fire. We learned about firefighter gear, multiple ways to get out of a room (everyone climbed out the window!), how to call 911 (Addy was a rockstar at knowing her address!), and how to prevent fires in our own homes. We also got to see the tools firefighters use and climb through the inside of the fire truck. At the end, we got to take a class picture in front of the fire truck!

Mrs. Kiepert's epic fail:
I am not known far and wide for my picture taking skills. This one makes me giggle.
